Ari Valtanen, Co-Founder, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer
Ari Valtanen has more than 17 years experience in professional software development and delivering innovative products. He co-founded Solid in 1992 and held various senior level positions within the research and development team until 1999. Valtanen served as the company's chief technologist from 1999 to 2000, and as director of product management in 2000. He was named Vice President and Chief Technology Officer in 2001. Valtanen served on the Solid board of directors from 1997 to 1999. Prior to co-founding Solid, Valtanen worked as a developer, architect and consultant in both start-up and established software companies for a number of years. He completed his Master's Thesis while working at the Technical Research Centre of Finland. Valtanen holds a Master of Science degree from the Department of Engineering Physics from the Helsinki University of Technology, with majors in Computer Science and Acoustics.

George Frie, Chief Financial Officer and Vice President Field Operations, APAC
George Frie is the chief financial officer and vice president of field operations for Solid's APAC region. Frie brings to Solid extensive expertise in finance, business management and international operations. Prior to joining Solid, Frie served as Controller of Juniper Networks in the UK which he joined though the $4 billion acquisition of NetSCreen Technologies. As business planning executive at NetScreen, Frie helped to built and managed the finance and sales operations organizations, and was instrumental in establishing technology partnership with IBM, Ericcson and Equant. Prior to NetScreen, Frie held a variety of business development and finance positions at Omnicell, a provider of supply-chain solutions for the healthcare market. Prior to Omnicell, Frie was as a consultant at Ernst and Young. He has degrees in economics and accounting from the University of St. Thomas, and is a certified public accountant.

Paola Lubet, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Business Development
Paola Lubet has worldwide responsibility for product management and marketing, marketing communications, and the development of strategic alliances and new partnerships. A 20-year veteran of the software industry, Lubet began her career in Italy before attracting the attention of Apple Computer's European headquarters in Paris, where she held worldwide responsibility for several network and communications products. In 1994, Lubet moved to Oracle Corporation to begin a successful career in product management, marketing and new market development. As Senior Director of Database Product Marketing, Lubet lead the introduction and launch of Oracle8i that helped Oracle gain a dominant position in the then emerging e-business space. She also drove Oracle database to market share dominance in the Windows NT space. Lubet has held executive positions at several emerging-growth companies including Blue Pumpkin Software (acquired by Witness Systems), SoftwareMarkets (acquired by Moveit) and Confluent Software (acquired by Oblix). She also spearheaded PeopleSoft's entrance into the business process integration market as Vice President, Product Marketing and Technology Alliances. Lubet holds a Master Degree in Computer Science from the Universita degli Studi di Torino (IT) and Executive Business Training from the Cranfield School of Management (UK).

Larry Scroggins, Vice President, Field Operations, Americas
With over 25 years of sales, business development, and marketing management experience in the high-tech industry, Mr. Scroggins has a proven track record creating and running direct and indirect sales organizations for database and business intelligence software companies. He has been instrumental in developing business development strategy and brings a disciplined and focused approach to operational planning and execution. His mission at Solid is to lead the Americas team to grow the existing OEM relationships and establish new ones, while extending the Solid brand into the open source and enterprise marketplace. Before joining Solid, Scroggins was vice president of business development at Pilot Software and vice president of channel sales at Sagent and Acta Technology. Scroggins has also held executive positions at DecisionPoint and Teradata/NCR.

Ilkka Starck, Vice President, Field Operations, EMEA
Ilkka Starck has extensive business and management experience from the telecom industry. He joined Solid from Yomi Software, a publicly traded IT and communications technology group. At Yomi, Starck headed the company's Telecom Solutions business unit and was responsible for Yomi's telecom device manufacturer business. Prior to Yomi, Starck was the President of US operations for IT security company, F-Secure. Before that he has also worked in various business, marketing and engineering management positions with Ericsson. Starck holds Master of Science (engineering) degrees in both business and telecommunications from the Helsinki University of Technology, Finland.
